"Caught in the Storm- 100 Years of Florida Hurricanes" logo

Learn about the fascinating history of hurricanes in Florida in "Caught in the Storm: 100 Years of Florida Hurricanes." This timeline exhibit walks visitors through all the hurricanes that made direct contact with Florida land between the period of 1919 and 2019. Explore historic and modern photos, relatable statistics, personal stories and more in this multi-dimensional experience.  

There are three ways to experience "Caught in the Storm."

Outdoor: Place yourself in context with storm surge heights from notorious storms across the state. Outdoor exhibit panels are placed around the exterior of the 1912 schoolhouse at the Florida Maritime Museum. Visitors may experience the exhibit every day from dawn to dusk. 

Please remain socially distanced while visiting. 

Online: Explore a virtual tour and join Pip the Pelican to learn about the birth of a storm, anatomy of a storm and more. This is a digital preview of the in-person exhibit. Available in both Spanish and English.

Inside: The indoor exhibit showcases a full timeline of Florida hurricanes throughout the last century. Test your knowledge with hurricane trivia and compare your hurricane experiences with others. Available in both Spanish and English.
