This class is designed as a 3-part series with the intention of having students continue their learning in a community project within the museum's butterfly garden over the following 4 to 5 weeks. Take home a 5” wide and 16” tall piece and become a part of the history of the Florida Maritime Museum.

In this 3 part series, Saturdays, September 14th, 21st, 28th, students will immerse themselves in the delights of making mosaic. Graduates will be able to continue their learning in a Florida Maritime Museum community mosaic project within the museum's butterfly garden over the following 4 to 5 weeks after the class. *
We will trace the development of mosaic art from the ancient craft to contemporary art, where we will explore the many dazzling glass and tile objects that allow us to make spectacular pieces of mosaic art today. Students will practice with different tools and materials to find which work best for he/she and design a mosaic to build under instructor supervision. Students will complete a 5” wide and 16” tall piece resembling flowing water.
Course will be suitable for beginners and intermediate students enhancing their skills. All tools and materials are included in class fee .
