Dyeing with Plant Based Dyes

In this beginners workshop students will learn how to make 3 different dyes starting from the beginning ingredient , the plant, and 6 different dyeing techniques: batik, stamping, ombre, tie-dyeing, folding and bandhini. At the end of this class the student will be able to follow simple dye recipes.

Come discover the beautiful soft and subtle colors that can be created using natural dyes. In this beginners workshop students will learn how to make 3 different dyes starting from the beginning ingredient , the plant, and 6 different dyeing techniques: batik, stamping, ombre, tie-dyeing, folding and bandhini. At the end of this class the student will be able to follow simple dye recipes to create their own dye at home. They will take home 6 finished napkins, each one showing the different techniques used in the class.
Students are asked to bring in a pair of scissors to use during the class and are requested to wear old clothing due to the possibility of getting dye on clothing.
Students must be 12 years of age or older
Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Class will be outside, please dress appropriately.
