The Camp Axe workshop runs from 9am-4pm, with a break for lunch. All safety gear and materials will be provided. During your class each student will forge a camp axe, ready to take home and use at the end of the day. We'll start with a ball peen hammer, and in this particular workshop we will work with each other in pairs, by swinging sledge hammers to help each other draw out the shape of the hammer into a small cam axe (it's a ton of fun!).
There will be some individual hammering towards the end to shape and refine the blade. Afterwards we will heat treat each blade, and the instructor will put a sharpened edge on the blade at the very end of class, before we re-handle them. This is a great workshop for those who like to swing a hammer, and especially the ones who want to learn to swing a big hammer!
