4/18 Indigo Dye Shibori

Indigo, which comes from the plant, is one of the oldest dyes used for coloring fabrics and is still used today to color blue jeans. Indigo was St. Augustine's first cash crop, traditionally known as “blue gold”. The unique characteristics of indigo dyeing make it easy to create wonderful resist patterns on fabric. In this class, we will create different patterns and students will take home swatches of fabric that show off their work. 

All materials will be provided. Please feel free to bring in a t-shirt to dye if you would like to. Wear old clothes and shoes- No matter how careful you are, you will get dye on you!
