About the event

Dairy has played a large role in America since the early 1600s. However, for the last 500 years, Florida’s cattle industry has been a large contributor to both the economy and natural resources. In an effort to celebrate Florida’s agricultural heritage, come take this hands-on cheese making class. Students will learn to make mozzarella and ricotta cheeses from scratch to take home. You will discover how easy these cheeses are to make and how wonderful homemade cheese tastes.

Students should bring a strainer, potholder, sauce pan, and sauté pan. The sauce pan should fit in your sauté pan and be able to hold 1/2 gallon of milk. This will be used to show how you can make a double broiler at home. All other materials will be provided. Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty—this is a hands-on class!
