Indigenous and African American cultures have woven pine needles and other natural fibers for generations. Discover the cultural history and art of pine needle basket weaving in this hands-on crafting program. Participants will learn how to collect, prepare, and weave pine needles into beautiful, functional containers. This unique craft fosters creativity, patience, and an appreciation for sustainable, nature-inspired art. Join us to cultivate a timeless skill and create your own pine needle basket - a great gift for family and friends! This program is suitable for adults and older children who are able to independently follow instructions. Patience, dexterity, and strength in the fingers and hands are required to weave the pine needles tightly. All crafting materials will be provided, and participants will leave with materials to finish their baskets at home.
