Phase II of the Re-Imagination Final Installation

What better way to celebrate the holiday season than the completion of a big project! The exhibition elements of Phase II of the Re-Imagination of permanent exhibits have been completed and installed, all in time for the holidays. Which means after the addition of some new lighting and other minor elements we will be ready to welcome you back on January 19. We will be open Tuesday-Saturday by appointment only, available at 9 am and 1:30 pm.

This final installation was focused primarily on the Blake Bank's shell collection in our new "Captain's Corner." Individually installed sea shells, exhibit panels, and free standing cases all highlight different Florida gulf coast specimens while sharing the story of Bank's, a commercial fisherman who left us a fascinating story to share with all of you.

Be the first to see our new exhibits—schedule your appointment today here! In the meantime, take a sneak peek at some of the installation elements and process below.

We look forward to seeing you in 2021. Stay safe and healthy!

The permanent exhibit portion of the "Re-Imagination" project is sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture (Section 286.25, Florida Statutes) with matching funds provided by the Friends of the Florida Maritime Museum.
